The voice has always been at the center of Jo Wedin’s music. She’s an artist who has experimented throughout her career, finding and developing her sound. She’s been writing songs for many years, touring mainly in France with her frenchpop duo, and singing jazz and soul in hotels in Paris. Her new single "The Peacocks" is a collaboration between Jo Wedin and the guitarist and producer Marc-Antoine Perrio. It's a cover of a jazz standard composed by Jimmy Rowles in 1975. This Neo Soul version is like a strange and beautiful journey, a soulful, aquatic Alice In Wonderland in the midst of a hot, hot, hot afternoon.
La voix gracieuse de Jo Wedin, vous l’avez sans doute déjà entendue. En effet, la singer-songwriter suédoise installée en France a promené sans complexe ses agiles cordes vocales entre différents groupes et différents styles : sur les disques des autres (Telepopmusic, Alex Rossi), les siens (notamment en duo avec Jean Felzine), comme en solo.
Une seule obsession chez elle : l’expressivité vocale, avec un net penchant pour le jazz et la soul. C’est donc naturellement qu’on la voit lorgner vers un R’N’B et soul plus contemporain.
L’approche « quiet storm » du titre « Love Song » (sorti 29 mai 2020) produit par le beatmaker Ergy, introduit délicatement cette nouvelle orientation, tout en menaces langoureuses, en soupirs sexy, et donne envie d’en entendre davantage.
« The Peacocks », son tout nouveau single (25 Septembre 2020) est une collaboration entre Jo et le guitariste et producteur Marc-Antoine Perrio. C’est une reprise d’un standard de jazz composé par Jimmy Rowles en 1975. Cette version New Soul est un voyage étrange et aquatique, un« Alice au pays des merveilles » pour les après-midi brûlants.
